CBR FY12 CoverCommunity Benefit Report FY2012

Dear Neighbors,

Since our founding in 1892, Chester County Hospital has been driven by a mission to treat all members of the community regardless of their ability to pay.

The Health System provided $14 million in uncompensated care in fiscal year 2012 (FY2012). The 220-bed* Hospital offers its quality care cost-efficiently, with the Pennsylvania HealthCare Cost Containment Council (PHC4) reporting that the Hospital has maintained the lowest charges of Chester County's five hospitals.

CBR Factoids FY12

We provide cutting edge, state-of-the-art medicine, enjoy affiliations with the top centers of academic excellence, and both meet and exceed national quality benchmarks. As part of our mission, we also provide a vast array of evidence-based preventive health services for our Chester County neighbors aimed at enhancing the health status and achieving the Healthy People 2020 objectives. These include many programs that address health promotion, primary and secondary prevention, primary care and obstetric care for the underinsured and uninsured, lifestyle modification programs, childbirth classes and a comprehensive curriculum for diabetes care. To accomplish this we partner extensively with the Chester County Health Department, local youth organizations, schools, churches, and a variety of civic groups, health centers and coalitions equally invested in the health of the public.

Thank you for your support of our health programs. If there is any health service you feel we should address in your community, please contact us at thehealthnetwork@cchosp.com and we will do our best to help.

On behalf of your entire healthcare team at Chester County Hospital, it is our privilege to care for you and your family.

Sincerely,
Michael J. Duncan
President and CEO, Health System
