Fall 2018 Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop: 

This 2-hour workshop will provide an overview of mindfulness and how it could potentially improve your health, happiness and quality of life as you reduce stress.  For over two decades, the Penn Program has taught mindfulness-based techniques to thousands of people as a way to:

  • Improve mood and energy
  • Increase focus and mental clarity
  • Manage difficult situations and emotions
  • Enhance communication
  • Increase enjoyment and appreciation of life

Mindfulness techniques cultivate steadiness, health and wholeness even during the most difficult moments.  With training, you can learn to connect with your inner resources in a simple and satisfying way.  

This workshop will be facilitated by Mara Wai, M.Ed.  Ms. Wai is the Associate Director of the Penn Program for Mindfulness of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and has taught mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques for the program since 2012.

Winter 2019 Mindfulness-Based Stress Management Course (8 Weeks):

This eight-week course will train you in mindfulness meditation techniques that can help you to:

  • Improve mood and energy
  • Increase focus and mental clarity
  • Manage difficult situation and emotions
  • Enhance Communication
  • Increase enjoyment and appreciation of life

Each program includes 27 hours of class time consisting of eight 2-1/2 hour weekly classes and an all-day mindfulness retreat held on a weekend between weeks six and eight of the course. The All-Day Retreat will take place at The Philadelphia School from 9 am - 4 pm.  Participants will have access to all class materials online, including handouts and audio recordings of guided meditation exercises for use at home.
