Neighborhood Health Home Care and Hospice TestimonialsEvery Neighborhood Health patient is assured of receiving safe, prompt, courteous care. Neighborhood Health professionals have proven their dedication to providing quality care to the people of our community time and time again.

But there's more to the story. Home care is a very special kind of health care. Because it's carried out in the patient's home, it's very personal. As a result, close bonds are often formed between caregiver, patient and family. Here are a few kind words from patients and family members from all over Chester County, PA. We are truly grateful to them for taking the time to write us.

NOTE: Some personal details, such as full names and dates, are abbreviated to retain the privacy of our patients.

Physician and Home Care Patient

Dear Friends,

As you know my father, passed away in his sleep. During the past nine months, Dad had the most dedicated and remarkable caregivers from your organization. They treated him with such respect and dignity and we could never begin to thank you for making his final months so comfortable.

Dad was modest and Robert was the one person dad didn;t mind bathing him, and he would miss him terribly if a day was skipped or if he was on vacation. Of course, dad always tried to be ready when Robert came, even at 6 am, and after much encouragement to stay in bed. Dad always told me "Robert knows a lot about everything."

Andrea was definitely his favorite, and every member of our family saw the love and respect she gave him. When dad was admitted into the hospital with a broken hip, she was on vacation. The next day I received a text because she had found out about the hospitalization and was very concerned. She continued to inquire during his operation and hospital while still on vacation. The dat Dad was being transferred to Park Lane Rehab, Andrea was at the hospital with him and cheered him up before the transport arrived. When dad passed away last Friday, I texted Andrea immediately and must share her response.

"Oh, I am so sorry, but I have to tell you, I am so happy for him. It is what he wanted and asked me to pray for that. He is whole again and with your mom. Loved him so much."

I can't tell you how grateful I was to receive those kind words and share them with my family. We were blessed to have hospice and everyone who cared for dad and allowed him to fulfill his wish and spend his final months at home. Please know how much we appreciate your service.

God bless you all,

Betsy R.

Good Morning Ms. Owen!

I don't often write letters as I am so preoccupied with the day to day surrounding the care of my princess, however I have been so impressed with the level of solicitude by your staff that I could not help but to write to let you know.

From aides to nurses to your hospital staff to case workers and a number of others, most who have been to our home over the past 4 Y, years. It goes without saying I am amazed at how much priority and professionalism is given to the patient and extended to the caregiver and for that our family's heartfelt gratitude.

Just recently a member of your team came by with a beautifully decorated cake for my wife who celebrated her 70th birthday. And with it a beautiful Afghan made by your volunteers. It was so kind and thoughtful of everyone involved. One can never measure or imagine the impact such attention has on the patient or caregivers family, but I dare say it has been richly rewarding in a personal way to see how attentive hospice has been to the needs of our family and especially to my wife.

Many thanks to all internally as well as those who support your field staff. Much continued success with your program.

Sincerely and with deep appreciation,

Husband of Hospice Patient

Dear Heidi,

My mother was a patient at the Hospice. She passed away on April 30.

My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank and praise your wonderful staff.

Mom could not have received better care in her final days. Everyone was kind, caring, respectful of her and of us and our needs. In particular, I would like to mention Genna, John, Rachel and Kate. They went above and beyond in caring for our Mom. Please tell them how much we appreciated their kindness and devotion to our Mom.

I am a graduate of Chester County School of Nursing (1973). I am very proud to be a graduate of the hospital that is affiliated with the Hospice and such high standards of care.

Thank you again.

Dear Ms. Devoti:

I want to thank you and your excellent staff for the therapy they gave to my wife, Janet Bentley, at our home. I want to particularly thank Raelene Collins, PT, Julie Cooke, OT, and Karen Lukenda, ST. Janet had a stroke in 1990 with right hemiplegia and had another on 24 August 2013 which involved the right occipital lobe of the brain. The physical therapy, which Ms. Collins supervised was particularly valuable and my wife is able to better navigate inside the house. Mrs. Lukenda was very insightful in improving the speech and cognitive functions. In addition she was pleasant and supportive. Our "children" who have seen Janet commented on her improvement in speech. Mrs. Cooke was very helpful also, however, my wife did not have as much deficit in that area. Thank you very much for the excellent therapy that was given following this second stroke.

My husband was a patient of NHA for the past several months. he lost his battle with cancer earlier this month.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your nurses for your exceptional care. Carolyn Stahl was our assigned nurse. Her professionalism, caring, and compassion is a credit to her and Neighborhood Health. In addition to Carolyn, we had several nurses during the course of my husband's illness. Eash of them treated him with the utmost respect and kindness.

To all the wonderful nurses and the social workers of hospice. Also thank you to the aides. You are truly remarkable people. Thank you for all your love that you extended to me and my family while taking care of [my husband]. You helped us through a very hard time. Thank you again and God bless you.

Wife of a Hospice Patient

To All at The Neighborhood Hospice Program:

Our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude for all the support you granted us during my Dad's final days. We were frantically seeking a solution as to how we could possibly keep my Dad in his home to experience his "end of life journey" with dignity and having all of us with him. One simple phone call to you solved it. Within hours we were greeted by a guardian angel, [nurse] Cathy. She entered my Dad's house, consoled us and in the most professional and compassionate way, gave my Dad the peace of mind he needed to endure his journey.

[Nurse] Mary was our constant guardian angel with daily emotional and physical support to care for my Dad. Mary's expertise and knowledge allowed us to have a better understanding as to what my Dad was going through and how to deal with it every step of the way. Jen [the aide] helped Dad feel more comfortable and bathed him in such a compassionate and respectful manner. Please let her know we wish her the best of luck with her future endeavors.

May God bless you all for your compassion and kindness. Please accept this donation in loving memory of our Dad.

Family of a Hospice Patient

Dear Chaplain Glod,

Enclosed you will find my...charitable donation to the Neighborhood Health Agencies, Inc. in appreciation of the bereavement support groups offered to people experiencing the loss of a loved one. Having lost my husband, I sought out group counseling. The Thursday evening support group that just concluded and of which I was a part, helped me through my journey of grief. I find myself able to understand the emotions and feelings that I have had since his passing and find that it has made me a stronger individual.

I hope this donation will help continue the efforts of your bereavement support groups. I would recommend this to anyone who is dealing with a loss. Thank you for letting me be part of such a great experience.

Wife of a Hospice Patient

Dear Director,

My wife was a home hospice patient for 15 months, fighting valiantly against liver and lung cancer until her death. Your nurses were angels to her during this time. She often spoke of how wonderful each and every one was during her fight. Michaela was her case nurse. Connie was the social worker who visited often to encourage me as much as give comfort to [my wife].

In appreciation, I enclose a donation to be used as you see fit for the benefit of your patients or even to help your nurses with furthering education opportunities.

Thank you again from my heart. God bless you all.
