The opportunities for volunteering at the hospital range from very active positions, such as transporting patients in wheelchairs, to less physically demanding jobs like staffing the information desk, gift shop or helping with clerical work throughout the hospital. There are a variety of opportunities in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
The Volunteer Services Department does not provide opportunities for shadowing or internships. Individuals who are interested in shadowing or internships must contact the departments themselves. Volunteer Services is unable to supply names and phone numbers. If the department is agreeable to a shadowing or internship experience, the candidate will need to complete the volunteer application/orientation process.
Volunteering is a great way to enhance your resume, but does not increase your chances of obtaining a paid position within the health system. If you are seeking employment, please visit our Careers section.
