Clinical Support (patient contact)

  • Cuddler Program Volunteer: The Cuddler program for the neonatal ICU and pediatrics is at capacity at this time. New names may be added to the waiting list possibly in mid-2020.
  • Red Coat Ambassador: Be part of the main lobby welcoming team for patients and visitors as they arrive to the hospital, escort guests to and from their destinations, partner with the valets and information desk staff to provide excellent customer service. An active position perfect for an outgoing personality. (Friday 12 Noon - 4 PM or 4 PM - 7 PM)
  • Pet Therapy Volunteer Team:Volunteer and therapy dog visit patients providing time of conversation, comfort and diversion. Pets must have Therapeutic Dogs International (TDI) certification or Comfort Caring Canines and up to date vaccines and health checks. (Tuesday 2 PM -3 PM, Thursday 7 PM - 8 PM or Saturday 10 AM - 11 AM)
  • Ambulatory Care Center (ACC): support the nursing staff by assisting with patient arrival and discharge, delivering equipment and specimens and preparing the unit for patients. (Wednesday 3 PM - 6 PM; Thursday 12 Noon - 3 PM or 3 PM - 6 PM)
  • Emergency Department: assist the physicians, nurses and technicians with patient transportation, stocking supplies and helping with room preparation; a multi-tasking opportunity. (Monday 6 PM - 9 PM; Tuesday 6 PM - 9 PM; Wednesday 9 AM - 12 Noon; Friday 6 PM - 9 PM; Saturday 3 PM - 6 PM, or 6 PM - 9 PM)/span>
  • Errands/Transportation Volunteer: a chance to interact with patients and staff in many hospital departments while assisting with patient discharge, delivering flowers and greeting cards, distributing hospital supplies and become part of a supportive and active volunteer group. (waiting list)
  • Volunteer Chaplain:Share your gifts of calm, compassionate presence and attentive listening to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families and staff; offer patient led spiritual care using an interfaith or non-denominational approach. Volunteer chaplains are supported and mentored by the hospital chaplain. 1 unit of CPE or equivalent training is required. (Flexible 2-6 hour shifts)

Clerical Support (limited or no patient contact)

  • Family Lounge Liaison: act as the 'communication hub' between the physicians, operating room staff and waiting families, customer service skills and easy conversation style are qualities need for this position. (Monday 4 PM - 6 PM, Wednesday 4 PM - 6 PM)
  • Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Clerical Volunteer: embrace your clerical skills and organizational talent in the PAT department helping with filing, categorizing reports and mailings and other office duties. (Monday, Thursday or Friday afternoon)
  • Pathology Laboratory: a behind the scenes opportunity supporting the laboratory team by organizing and filing pathology slides, requires someone who detailed oriented and focused on accuracy. (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon)
  • Southern Chester County Information Desk Volunteer: be the smiling face and welcoming presence to patients and visitors at Penn Medicine Southern Chester County in West Grove; provide directions, answer questions and assist with outpatient registration flow. (Thursdays 8 AM - 12 Noon)
  • General Laboratory Volunteer: a courier position organizing and distributing clinical specimens and documentation to laboratory departments and registration areas; an active position requiring attention to detail and time management skills. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3 PM - 5 PM)

Cheermobile

  • Visit patient and staff areas with the goody cart with the Cheermobile team. The cart offers food, gifts and reading material for sale. (Substitute weekday afternoons)

Encore Consignment Shop

  • Assisting customers, labeling and displaying consigned items in the shop located in the Kennett Square area (Rt. 52 & Rt.1). (Open September - June)

Zoom Volunteer Driver

  • Be part of the solution! Zoom, part of Family Services of Chester County connects volunteer drivers with CCH patients who need a safe and reliable ride to and from critical healthcare and social service appointments. Volunteers provide friendly, reliable transportation and contribute to fewer missed life essential appointments. (Flexible to suit your schedule)
Chester County Day

Chester County Day scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2019 is the longest running historical home tour in the country. Volunteers are needed as house hosts, greeters and parking assistants. Volunteer for a short 4 hour shift and receive a complementary half day ticket to tour the homes. Proceeds from this event benefit the cardiology program.

  • South Lobby Information Desk Volunteer: be the "go to" person in the south lobby by providing directions and assisting patients, visitors and clergy; answering internal and external phone calls and managing flower and other deliveries. (Weekdays 8 AM - 12 Noon OR 12 Noon - 4 PM)
  • Pre-Procedure Testing Waiting Room Volunteer: a NEW volunteer position perfect for a friendly out-going volunteer; assist with patient flow into the pre-procedure and cardiology testing areas; greet patients and visitors, provide directions and answer questions. (Weekdays 8 AM - 12 Noon OR 12 Noon - 4 PM)
  • Red Coat Ambassador: be part of the main and south lobby welcoming team as patients and visitors arrive to the hospital, escort guests to and from their destinations, partner with the valets and information desk staff to provide excellent customer service. An active position perfect for an outgoing personality. (Varied weekday and weekend availability)
